In response to the growing number of governmental agencies and contractors setting their sights on hospice programs, health care attorneys are strongly recommending that every hospice provider implement and maintain a robust compliance plan. Increased whistleblower activities and changes extending the reaches of the False Claims Act can significantly impact each hospice, regardless of size or structure. Although resources committed to compliance do not generate any revenue, the efforts may protect the agency from significant liability and, at the same time, lead to a higher quality of care.
To assist hospices wishing to either establish or improve their compliance programs and most effectively focus their compliance efforts, Hospice Fundamentals is offering two workshops in Phoenix, Arizona, March 30th – April 1st. The foundational course (March 30 – April 1) is designed for hospices that wish to start from the ground up and for those needing to resurrect a currently moribund program. The advanced course (March 31 – April 1) offers in-depth focus on the four current hot topics – physician services, care in the nursing home, eligibility and the certification process—as well as advanced information on understanding whistleblowers and the False Claims Act. For more information about the workshops go to www.hospicefundamentals.com.
